Narrative
4.1
For part one of this MLO, please look to both the background research section of my capstone presentation and my survey questions. For both of them, I had to learn how to use "appropriate research methodologies" and apply them in my studies. I chose to use the library online databases to do research for my review of literature or background research as it is called in my presentation and paper. I mostly used Jstor and Ebsco Host for my research with which I was able to find ample sources. I would like to further using academic search engines like Ebsco and Jstor in my English-teaching career in Japan. 4.2 In the Advanced Presentational Communication class, we took advantage of a wide variety of tchnologies to complete our capstones. The "appropriate technologies" I used in my research were Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Spreadsheet, Google Docs, Google Presentation, and Google Forms. I took advantage of all of these technologies for sharing files with classmates and teachers. I sometimes uses various media because some media were not compatible. For example, after creating graphs using Microsoft Excel, I tried to copy-paste them into the Google Presentation file I was using for my capstone presentation but was unable to do so. So, I downloaded the presentation as a PowerPoint file and the copy-paste worked. Using all of these various technologies really helped me progress with my capstone even though it was being reviewed at the same time. 4.3 This was my first time creating my own survey to get results for my own original research. This was by far the most intellectually stimulating and rewarding work I did in fulfilling this MLO. Throughout my school career I've done many "research projects" by looking at previously done research. I had a lot of fun creating questions based on the questions that I wanted answered and then trying to interpret the results and look for patterns. I was worried about creating graphs on Excel at first, but once I started the process, it turned out to be a lot of fun and I even got a little artistic with it! I thought my presentation was very ascetically pleasing to the eye. Hopefully I can use these technologies to create some fun visuals for the kids in my English classes in Japan. |
